Double Bar Line (End of Week 5) | Post #5
Hello everyone, and welcome to the LAST POST BEFORE my PRESENTATION! First of all, I would like to apologize for not making a midweek post last week. I had a lot on my plate and I just never got around to writing the post. Don't think that I didn't practice though. I still practiced and played as much as the other weeks, I just did not document it as heavily. And in my defense, it would have been pretty dry compared to my other blogs since I spend most of the last week practicing the parts that had I already learned. It would have just been videos of me playing the same parts as earlier, just on faster tempos. Be honest, you wouldn't have watched it anyway.
🎸Da New Stuff and Da Old Stuff🎸
In addition to practicing the parts that I had already learned, I learned one last part of the song. I learned the second bridge of the song. Unlike the rest of the parts I learned, it is not hybrid picking. It is just strumming so it was not too hard to learn.

How it Sounds
Before I move on with the blog, there is something I must admit. Throughout the weeks of this journey, I learned a bit more than I was honest about. I would learn a little line here and there each week and it wasn't until a few days ago that I realized really how much I had learned. Well, it turns out that with the parts I learned, including repeated parts from earlier in the song, I learned everything up to the solo. That's 6 MINUTES of music!
I learned 3 Pages of Music!
It's absolutely bonkers looking back at everything that I learned. I hadn't realized how much time I really put in, and I am astonished by what I managed to accomplish. While most of this is not good enough to play live with pride, I am still excited about how much I was able to learn. Nice job Reed👍
As much as I would like to film a bunch of different videos of everything that I learned, I sadly do not have the time. I am right against the clock since tomorrow morning I have to leave to go the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) State Competition in Hershey, PA. I am going to be gone from tomorrow until 1:00 on Wednesday. That's a lot of time away from playing the guitar which will be a bummer. That time away from the guitar is also the reason why I ultimately decided to play a clip of my guitar playing at my presentation instead of playing live. I was just too afraid that I would be rusty and I would screw up if I tried playing live.

🎸Da Presentation🎸
For the deeper meaning of my presentation, I am going to focus on the idea of not judging yourself by comparing your sills to those of others. I do not want to reveal too much since that will spoil my presentation, so I think that is as much as I am going to reveal at this point in time. I was stuck between a few different possibilities for my deeper meaning, but a spontaneous conversation with Mr. Perlman helped me decided on this topic. We were discussing a bunch of great guitar players, some old and some really young (Like 8 years old), and the choice for the deeper message became obvious.
With the presentation quickly approaching, I must admit that I am very nervous. Wish me luck!
ps. If I bomb the presentation: Drop an "F" in the comment section.

Your guitar playing has progressed so much throughout these past few weeks. Even though you have your script and everything done already it'd be cool to see a little live performance. (I don't know that's what the other people did....but I'm not good at presentations so take this with a grain of salt). Can't wait to see your TED Talk!
