Fading Vamp (End of Project) | Post #6

Here we are at the end of my presentation. With my TED Talk in the past, I find myself unable to think of what to write about. Do I thank the audience for supporting my blog and project? Do I address the current state of my skills? Do I discuss the improvements I have made? So many possible avenues to take this final blog post, yet none seem appropriate. You see, each of those topics is based on the idea that my guitar journey is done. That could not be further from the truth. Despite having to temporarily cancel my weekly guitar lessons due to conflicts with my baseball schedule, my journey is set to continue as normal. For many people, this TED Talk marked the ending of their experience. I, however, am just getting started.  September 8, 2018 (Yes, I learned Wonderwall... Yes, I am ashamed to admit that) April 12, 2019 Future Save your "F" Bois Good news, you do not need to spam the comments with an array of F's (see instructions on ...

Double Bar Line (End of Week 5) | Post #5

Hello everyone, and welcome to the LAST POST BEFORE my PRESENTATION! First of all, I would like to apologize for not making a midweek post last week. I had a lot on my plate and I just never got around to writing the post. Don't think that I didn't practice though. I still practiced and played as much as the other weeks, I just did not document it as heavily. And in my defense, it would have been pretty dry compared to my other blogs since I spend most of the last week practicing the parts that had I already learned. It would have just been videos of me playing the same parts as earlier, just on faster tempos. Be honest, you wouldn't have watched it anyway. 🎸Da New Stuff and Da Old Stuff🎸 In addition to practicing the parts that I had already learned, I learned one last part of the song. I learned the second bridge of the song. Unlike the rest of the parts I learned, it is not hybrid picking. It is just strumming so it was not too hard to learn. New Part ...

Hello everyone! Welcome to my first, and hopefully last, Vlog. As you will be able to tell, this Vlog is nothing to drool over, but I put a ton of time into it so give me a break. Make sure to tune in for the next post to see my improvement, since this Vlog is mostly centered around my guitar learning experience in general. Enjoy! Midweek Check-in (Week 4)

What I am Working On Additional Song For my additional song, I chose to learn Don't Look Back in Anger  by Oasis. In Mark Agnesi's last Guitar of the Day, this past *Straturday, he played three songs. He played Rude Mood  by Stevie Ray Vaughn, Soul to Squeeze  by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and he ended his 734 episode legacy with the song Don't Look Back in Anger  by Oasis. I felt that his final song was a great choice because the lyrics symbolized the end of his era at Norman's Rare Guitars. Since it was the last song he played at Norman's Rare Guitars, I decided to learn Don't Look Back in Anger  by Oasis. Original Song https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/oasis/dont_look_back_in_anger_chords_6097 Tab Used to Learn the Song Verse Pre- Chorus Pre- Chorus FAIL💩 Stairway to Heaven Original Song Middle Line of Bridge Previous: 84 bpm Current: 92 bpm New Section (The Fast Part) Without Metronome  ...

Without further ado, let's get into the week! 🎸Additional Song 🎸 As you just read in the  previous post , I am going to take a new approach to my guitar learning. While I have been enjoying Stairway to Heaven  there is just something about only learning one song at a time that feels unnatural. I'm n...

Midweek Check-in (Week 3)

Image
Hello everyone, and welcome to the best time of the week: Midweek Check-in time! This post will be as minimal words as possible since I want the emphasis to be my progress, not my writing. Enjoy!😃 Additional Song of the Week While I have enjoyed learning Stairway to Heaven  very much, I personally find it a bit boring to just work on one piece of music at a time. In addition to my weekly progress on Stairway to Heaven, I will learn a small part of another, (mostly) unrelated song. Kashmir To keep my playing in the realm of Led Zeppelin, I decided to learn the main riff of Kashmir . For any of you guys who don't recognize the name of the tune, it was Chase Utley's walk-up song for the majority of his career. One interesting thing about Kashmir  is its tuning. Most songs are played in "Standard Tuning" which from lowest string to highest is E-A-D-G-B-E, which follows the acronym, "Eddie Ate Dynamite, Good Bye Eddie." Kashmir,  on the other hand...

🎸Research🎸 Hello everyone, and welcome to the end of the second week of my journey! In case you missed my Midweek Check-in, I would highly suggest checking that out RIGHT NOW (link below)! Week 2 Check-in Barre Chords This has been an incredible week in my guitar journey involving many improvements since the Midweek Check-in! As you just saw in the Midweek post, I was nowhere near sounding like Jimmy Page whatsoever. I must admit, my playing was pretty rough to listen to. I noticed that throughout my playing at the beginning of the week, I struggled the most with my barre chords and my hybrid picking. Both of those techniques were relatively new, so I was still trying to figure out how they worked. I found an interesting video on barre chords titled, "3 Secrets to EASY Barre Chords." I would highly suggest this video to anyone who is struggling with barre chords, since not only is it less than seven minutes long but it also offers many great tips for creati...
